Dental Health Week 2014

This year The Dental Health Week will concentrate on preventing children from getting bad teeth. It is heart breaking to see young children with brown teeth and the best treatment is prevention. We have in our  information for patients page instructions how to brush and floss better.

The other factors to be mindful about are how much sugar and acidic drinks are consumed and at which parts of the day. Laser dentistry

The advances in laser technology allow for a wide range of procedures to be performed more quickly, painlessly and heal more quickly than conventional treatments. After a laser procedure, the treated area remains sterilised and sealed which allows for the healing process to commence undisturbed by bacteria. Dr. Kaufman is a trained in the use of lasers and is using an AMD laser to help people who suffer from gum disease, sore spots in their mouth, sensitive teeth and in need of removing muscle attachments and fibromas. There are some of the major benefits associated with the use of this laser:

  • The procedures performed may not require sutures (stitches).
  • Certain procedures do not require anaesthesia.
  • The use of the laser minimizes bleeding because the high-energy light beam aids in the clot formation.
  • Damage to surrounding tissue is minimized.
  • Wounds heal faster.

National Diabetes week

diabetes addTwo million Australians are at high risk of type 2 diabetes. There is enough evidence that gum disease can predispose a healthy person to develop Diabetes. On the other hand gum disease is a symptom of diabetes and untreated gum disease can interfere with controlling the level glucose in the blood.
We at Tooronga Family Dentistry and Dr. Kaufman are aware of the risks of gum disease and place an emphasis of oral hygiene and prevention.
As part of the National diabetes week, we will be giving advice and answering questions at Tooronga shopping Center on Wednesday 16/7/2014 from 10am to 1 pm.
