Reinforcing fragile teeth in Glen Iris

Teeth that are heavily restored, cracked, broken, or have undergone root canal treatment often lack a significant portion of their natural structure, compromising their integrity. Unlike broken bones, fractures in cracked teeth do not heal. Additionally, the tooth material lost to decay does not regenerate, and some cracks may continue to worsen despite treatment.

Traditionally, these teeth have required crowns to restore their function and shape, protecting them against further cracking that can spread through both the tooth and restorative materials.

However, crowning often requires removing a large amount of the remaining tooth structure, leaving the tooth smaller and peg-shaped.

A better, more conservative, and cost-effective solution is now available using EverX, a novel composite restorative material filled with small fibers that form a mesh binding tooth fragments together. These fibers reinforce the restorative material and resist crack propagation, creating a durable restoration that often eliminates the need for crowns.

This innovative material was recognized as the “Quality Innovation of the Year” for 2013.

Dr. Daniel Kaufman  utilizes EverX to provide superior treatment, especially for teeth that:

  • Are missing a portion or cusp

  • Have deep cavities

  • Have undergone root canal treatments

  • Show cracks often caused by removal of old amalgam fillings
